Intensive weekend training for families

Family life means closeness, familiarity, and cohesion, but also conflicts, misunderstandings, and stress. It becomes especially challenging when the dynamics are stuck and the same arguments keep recurring.

When everyday life becomes exhausting

Every family has its own dynamics, which have developed over years and in part have become entrenched. It is the same discussions that keep flaring up: Who takes the children to school? Why does most of the work fall on one person? Why does no one really listen? Amid all the obligations, there is hardly any room for genuine conversations, everyone does their own thing, and at the end of the day it no longer feels like a shared home but like a place where everyone just functions.
Often it is not even the major crises that weigh heavily, but the everyday life: The ten-year-old blocks himself in discussions, the teenage daughter shuts herself off completely, the parents are annoyed by the constant squabbles between the siblings. Sometimes it is also discussions or unspoken expectations about household matters, for example, the mother wishing that the father would take on more, the father feeling misunderstood, children noticing that the atmosphere is tense without really knowing why.
When such patterns persist over a long time, it becomes difficult to find a way out. A weekend away from the usual routine can help to start talking to each other again, where the conversation does not happen in passing but with genuine listening. The aim is to perceive each other differently, to reconsider conflicts, and to find ways to feel more connected as a family again.

Who is the seminar suitable for?

The seminar is suitable for families who…

  • …feel that everyone is only fighting for themselves instead of holding together as a family
  • …notice that communication between parents and children or between siblings no longer works
  • …are looking for new ways to experience more closeness, ease, and togetherness as a family
  • …want to use valuable time together away from everyday life to reconnect as a family

What does the intensive training weekend for families include?

1. A “status check”: Where do we stand as a family?

Everyone has their own perspective on how family life is going, including parents, children, and grandparents. A current status check provides an overview of how you perceive each other as a family. Are there unspoken conflicts? Who feels heard, and who does not?

2. Creating a vision: shared goals

Family life can be chaotic. But what is it that truly defines you as a family? What are your shared values? How would you like your family to interact with each other? Is there any family time?

3. Managing conflicts more effectively

There are arguments in every family, but often they are not really about what is being argued about at the moment. Why do the same discussions keep happening? How can we learn to discuss fairly with each other without frustration or withdrawal arising?

4. Strengthening resources as a couple

Families often have more strengths than they consciously recognize in everyday life. These strengths are often overlooked when frustration and arguments dominate. Which rules help you live together peacefully? In which situations are you there for each other?

5. Reaping the benefits: Practical exercises for everyday life

Insights remain worthless if they do not carry over into everyday life. Which small changes make a long-term difference? With concrete exercises, we provide you with tools to keep what has been developed alive at home.

Important!

  • Families who have recently separated or have just come together as a patchwork-family are not suitable for this seminar. In these cases, it would be more appropriate to first undertake family therapy in order to work through fears and fresh emotions without time pressure. Once the most important matters, such as moves, finances, and arrangements regarding the children, are clarified and the focus is on rebuilding togetherness, the weekend seminar can be used as supportive.

FAQs

Is the intensive family training weekend suitable for families with very serious problems?

If conflicts and behavioral patterns are too entrenched and communication is practically no longer possible, it would be more sensible to first undertake family therapy in order to work through the situation in a neutral space that is not limited by time. If the conflicts are deeply rooted, they usually cannot be resolved over a single weekend. This requires time, careful exploration of individual needs, and largely nonjudgmental communication among all family members.

How can I schedule an appointment?

You can easily make an appointment by phone or using the contact form on our website. We are happy to advise you!

What if we realize during the weekend that we, as parents, have different goals?

That can happen, and there is space for exactly that. It is not about forcibly finding a solution, but honestly working out what each person wishes for the future. If you need support for the next steps, you are welcome to also attend our family therapy.

We would like to grow closer as a couple. Is there also a weekend program available for this?

Yes, for families we offer the Intensive Weekend Training for couples.
